LYCRA® brand helps move runners in Japan

Jul 22, 2015

Toray Opelontex co-sponsored the 2015 Kyoto Marathon with LYCRA® fiber brand. Over 15,400 runners took to the streets of the ancient imperial city for this popular event watched by an estimated half million spectators – about a third of the city’s population.

The LYCRA® brand was with the participants every step of the way.

A themed display area at the Okoshiyasu Welcome Square at the runner check-in point explained the bi-directional stretch qualities LYCRA® fibers bring to activewear – enhancing performance, radically improving freedom of movement, and ensuring a comfortable, long-lasting fit.

Each runner was given a LYCRA® brand good luck token, and those with the good luck to be wearing running gear enhanced with LYCRA® fibers had 42 kilometres ahead to experience its performance and comfort benefits first hand.

Proceeds from the Kyoto Marathon 2015 will support the continuing recovery of areas devastated by the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

INVISTA was proud to be associated with Toray Opelontex in this worthy cause. It was also a great opportunity to draw attention to the differentiating value of the high-tech textile products in this fast-growing business segment.
