Turkey is closing on China as the second largest global producer of socks with over 90% of its output destined for export, notably to the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. INVISTA works closely with many of the mills, spinners, packagers, and downstream brands and retailers involved in this success story. Close to 100 producers and buyers made time for a half-day tutorial on market trends and technical developments – up from 60 attendees last year.
The agenda included briefings on product innovation and the performance and comfort enhancements offered by INVISTA’s LYCRA® fiber and its COOLMAX® and THERMOLITE® technologies. Fashion designer Gül Ağiş looked ahead using concept garments to link sock innovations to consumer trends for 2017 and beyond.
There was strong brand and retail interest in how breathability, wicking, compression, lasting fit and other INVISTA technology benefits heighten appeal of products that cut across fast-growing leisure, health and sports categories.
There was also positive delegate feedback on the differentiating potential of the INVISTA consumer brands associated with these benefits and on the marketing value of its “Embrace the Elements” campaign for COOLMAX® and THERMOLITE®, in particular.
Not least, this was a unique networking opportunity that enabled buyers and sellers who braved the weather to huddle and plan their next lucrative moves in pushing socks up the consumer purchase agenda.
