The LYCRA® Brand Rendezvous presented fiber and fabric innovation on a scale never seen before at the Intertextile Shanghai autumn trade event.

LYCRA® Brand Rendezvous is a well-established show-within-a-show at this leading Asian textile trade fair. Now in its twelfth year, its scope and ambition far exceeded the expectations of most visitors. In two dedicated pavilions, The LYCRA Company and its industry partners presented technology, materials and concept garments that told them all they needed to know about what comes next in virtually every garment category.

The benefits of close working relationships with LYCRA EXCHANGE™ mill customers were evident in the ready-to-wear shirting ideas presented by Luthai Textile; Derun Textile attracted the attention of those looking for fabric differentiation in intimates, active and swimwear; legwear specialist Zhangzhou Weiyi Chemical Fiber offered glimpses of things to come in hosiery.

The LYCRA Company’s own contributions in the LYCRA® Brand Pavilion offered something for everyone looking for fiber innovation to boost competitiveness. There were prototype garment collections in four growth categories for woven bottom trend– athleisure, men’s stretch, bi-stretch, and lightweight warmth. An impressive display developed by the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology showed how the LYCRA® SPORT PCE™ Index delivers precise performance benefits in active sportswear.

Elsewhere, the spotlight was on how LYCRA® lastingFIT technology enables brands to respond to consumer shaping and comfort demands in bras, on LYCRA® FUSION™ anti-laddering technology among other hosiery innovations, and on LYCRA® T400® fiber and LYCRA® dualFX®, LYCRA® XFIT, and LYCRA® TOUGH MAX™ technologies in the all-important denim category.

Growing industry emphasis on sustainability ensured keen interest in the new LYCRA® T400® EcoMade fiber variant – over 65% of its content comes from recycled materials or sustainable sources – and in THERMOLITE® T-Down EcoMade insulation whose superior wear characteristics and 100% recycled fiber point to a big future in the winter insulated jacket market.

With all this and more, such as predictive consumer trends in key categories and panel discussions on sustainability, the tempo of the three-day event never flagged. The link between technology and competitiveness was reinforced time and again in discussions with visitors from all levels of the industry.
