As a leading provider of stretch solutions, The LYCRA Company will discuss key topics related to sustainable stretch offerings at the Kingpins 24 livestream event taking place April 22-23. Kingpins is transitioning its spring denim industry tradeshow in Amsterdam to a free online format amid COVID-19 concerns.

The Company will deliver a myth-busting presentation titled “Sustainable Stretch - Get the Facts” within the: 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. CET time slot on Wednesday, April 22. Additionally, there will be a discussion on biodegradable spandex. Viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments on both topics.

Rounding out the session will be short videos on how LYCRA® EcoMade fiber is produced as well as an overview of the company’s Planet Agenda sustainability platform. Can’t tune in live? All content can be viewed on demand during the two-day event.

“We want to thank Kingpins for giving us the opportunity to come together as a denim community and engage our customers on these important topics in a new and exciting way,” said Jean Hegedus, The LYCRA Company Sustainability Director. “At The LYCRA Company, we’re focused on developing solutions for a circular economy. Under our Planet Agenda platform, we’re working on a variety of recycling technologies, including projects on garment to garment recycling, extending garment wear life, and helping our customers use fewer, and more sustainable resources.”

In the area of waste reduction the company offers a variety of fibers made with pre and post-consumer content. The latest, LYCRA® EcoMade fiber, is made partly with pre-consumer material and is certified to GRS standards. LYCRA® T400® EcoMade fiber, contains 50% post-consumer content and can be used in conjunction with LYCRA® fiber for higher stretch with lasting shape retention.

The company’s performance polyester fibers give new life to plastics, too. COOLMAX® EcoMade technology helps keep the wearer cool and dry and is made with 100% post-consumer recycled material. For lightweight warmth, THERMOLITE® EcoMade fiber is engineered to help optimize comfort and performance. The company has committed to transition the bulk of its COOLMAX® and THERMOLITE® branded product line to recycled versions by the end of 2021.
