LYCRA® fiber, the original spandex fiber that revolutionized the fashion industry, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Dr. Joseph C. Shivers, Jr .,
a chemist at DuPont, invented the best-known branded fiber in the world in 1958, and forever changed clothes and the way we wear them. Dr. Shivers passed away in 2014, but he is being posthumously inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame
on May 3, 2018. The LYCRA Company, owner of the LYCRA® brand, has made a donation to the non-profit organization to pay tribute to the inventor of LYCRA® fiber.
