All of The LYCRA Company manufacturing sites look for ways to reduce our environmental footprint by conserving resources and eliminating waste. Key focus areas include:
- Energy Savings: Since 2011 our LYCRA® fiber production sites have implemented more than 250 energy reduction programs. As of 2019, two of our sites had reduced their energy intensity by more than 20%, with more than half of our sites improving by more than 10%.
- Water Savings: Each of our sites has individual water reduction goals. At our Tuas site in Singapore and our Monterrey site in Mexico, we reduced plant operation water usage by more than 20% since 2013.
- Waste Reduction: In 2018 less than 1% of LYCRA® fiber waste was sent to landfill with a goal to reduce this even further going forward.
Our plant in Tuas, Singapore attained Water Efficient Building Certification from the Public Utilities Board after numerous water conservation initiatives, including switching to recycled water. Since 2013 the site has reduced its plant water consumption by 24%.
